Nobility crown VeríDe Mallorca, originario de Cataluña. En 1279 ya aparece un Bernardo de V. en la isla con el cargo de síndico. A finales del mismo siglo pasó una rama a Menorca. La jefatura de esta familia mallorquina ha pasado a los Cotoner. Juan II concedió privilegio de noble del reino de Mallorca a Bartolomé de V., doctor en ambos Derechos, el 14 de mayo de 1463, al mismo tiempo que le confería el cargo de ministro del Supremo Consejo de Aragón. Fernando II le nombró regente de Nápoles, vicecanciller de la corona de Aragón y embajador en Venecia y en Roma. Fray Ramón de V., doctor en ambos Derechos, obtuvo, el 27 de mayo de 1587, privilegio de caballero del reino de Mallorca, y en 30 de agosto de 1599, Felipe II le confirió el de noble del mismo reino. Antonio de V. y Despuig caballero de la Orden de Santiago, vivió durante el reinado de Felipe II. Su hermano Tomás de V. y Despuig fue caballero de la Orden de Calatrava, y el 5 de julio de 1601 fue agraciado por Felipe III con el privilegio de noble del reino de Mallorca, extensivo a todos sus descendientes por línea masculina y femenina. Ramón, Francisco y Marco Antonio de V. y Despuig, fueron caballeros de la Orden de San Juan, y el primero de ellos, comendador de Espluga Calva. También lo fue Tomás de V. y de Togores, muerto en 1836. Antonio de V. fue caballero de la Orden de Alcántara en 1692 y Francisco de V. y de Villalonga, de la de Montesa en 1661. El estudio del escudo heráldico familiar nos "habla" de quienes formaron el origen de la familia V., pues esa era su función, la de manifestar a los demás sus elementos diferenciales.
