Catalán, originario de Limoges (Francia) y radicado en Barcelona. El mercader Francisco V., pasó a Cataluña, procedente de Limoges, a principios del siglo XVII. Su hijo, Francisco de V. Vernís, doctor en ambos Derechos, obtuvo de Felipe V privilegio de noble del Principado de Cataluña en 1701. Francisco y José de V., fueron habilitados como nobles en las Cortes de Barcelona de 1702. Por referencias de historiadores de la época y otras averiguadas por Araldis en los archivos registrales de ciudades y otros privados, podríamos afirmar, pero no asegurar, que este escudo u otro muy similar a él, apareció inicialmente desde el siglo XI al XIV, particularmente en los hechos de la conquista de Ibiza del 11 de Agosto de 1.114 y los de Mallorca a principios de 1.115 formando parte de los Cruzados compuestos por Pisanos, Catalanes y Provenzales, comandadas por Ramón Berenguer III.
