A él perteneció doña Teresa Gil de V., hija del noble navarro don Juan de V., quien viuda de don Sancho Pérez de Lodosa, se convirtió en concubina oficial, y tal vez en esposa del rey Jaime I, que le concedió la baronía y castillo de Xérica en 1255. De esta regia unión nacieron dos hijos, don Jaime, barón de Xérica, señor de Torró y Eslida, y don Pedro, barón de Ayerbe, señor de Lusia y Ahuero, legitimados por su padre y reconocidos como dinastías. Enferma de lepra, doña Teresa se retiró a la Zaidia de Valencia donde fundó un monasterio de monjas.
