Guillaume, damoiseau, fit un emprunt collectif avec Guillaume de Chevagnac-Blesle et Guillaume de Châteauneuf, chevalier, étant à la croisade devant St-Jean-d'Acre en 1250. Hugues est dit censitaire du prieuré de Vieille-Brioude en 1271. Robert chevalier, fut présent au traité intervenu l'an 1278, entre les seigneuries de Mercœur et de Poitiers-Valentinois. Henri seigneur de Vernassal près la Roche (1366), laissa: Guillaume, seigneur de Vernassal (1380). Jacques écuyer, était homme d'armes de la chevalerie de Jean de Langeac, sénéchal d'Auvergne en 1420. Noble Jean, qui fit dresser le terrier de la terre de Vernassal près Brioude en 1424, vivait encore en 1450 et eut pour successeur Robert seigneur de Vernassal, dont la veuve et les enfants mineurs rendirent hommage au baron de Mercœur en 1491. Antoine fit renouveler le terrier de Vernassal en 1497 et laissa Hippolyte dame de Vernassal, héritière de sa maison, qui fut la première femme avant 1530 de Guyot de Chalvet de Rochemonteix. Deux chanoines-comtes de Brioude dont un syndic (1281-1402). Cette maison passe pour avoir la même origine que les de Vigier répandus en Guyenne, Ppoitou, Saintonge, Angoumois et Périgord, connus depuis Guyon, mort en 1148 au siège de Damas. ...
