Don José era hijo de Don Tomás de Villanueva Barroso y de Doña Florentina Perera Riverol y nieto paterno del Alférez Juan Leonardo Hernández Barroso y de Doña Juana Lorenzo de Villavicencio. Doña María Faustina de V., hija del matrimonio anterior, celebró nupcias con Don Antonio Eusebio de Quevedo y La Guardia Monroy y Peña, Teniente Capitán del Regimiento Provincial de La Orotava y Alcalde Real ordinario de Santa Cruz de Tenerife en 1796. Otra casa muy antigua. Procede de Aragón y se extendió por Tierra de Cixa (en la Baja Navarra), Álava y Vizcaya. En esta provincia hubo una casa en la villa de Gordejuela del partido de Valmaseda. Son sus armas: Cuartelado: primero y cuarto, de gules, con un galgo de plata y segundo y tercero de oro, con un pájaro de sable. Otros: De gules, con una villa, murada de plata. ...
