El linaje de este ilustre y noble apellido tiene sus orígenes en Cataluña, Valencia, Mallorca y Rosellón. en donde Bernardo V. fue comendador de Espluga, Calva en la Orden de San Juan de 1255 a 1270. Francisco V., ciudadano honrado de Barcelona, fue armado con el cíngulo militar en la coronación del Rey Martín I, en Zaragoza, el 6 de abril de 1399. Berenguer V. y de Boil, camarero del rey, obtuvo privilegio de noble del principado, dado por Alfonso IV, en Gaeta, el 22 de noviembre de 1438. Clemente V. y de Sobrebous fue agraciado con el privilegio de Caballero del Principado, por don Pedro de Cardona, en Barcelona, el 2 de mayo de 1522. Francisco V., natural de Pontos (Gerona), asesor del gobernador de Menorca, obtuvo el privilegio de Caballero del Principado, dado por Felipe II, en Madrid, el 28 de mayo de 1594. Jaime V., natural de Gerona, doctor en ambos Derechos, consiguió privilegio de ciudadano honrado de Barcelona, confirmando el que tenía de ciudadano honrado de Gerona, dado por Felipe III, en Lerma, el 26 de octubre de 1614. A Rafael V. y Femades, natural de Barcelona, le fue concedido el privilegio de ciudadano honrado de Barcelona, dado en Madrid, por Felipe IV, el 6 de octubre de 1638. Juan V. y de Vedruna, ciudadano honrado de Gerona, era ciudadano honrado de Barcelona en 1658, año también en el cual murió. Su hijo, Bernardo de V. Vedruna y Ferrer, obtuvo privilegio de noble del principado, dado por Carlos II, en Madrid, el 20 de febrero de 1675. Mariano V., fue matriculado ciudadano honrado de Barcelona, el 1 de mayo de 1673.
