E' tradizione sicura che la famiglia di Camerino (Marche) discenda dalla nobilissima di Bologna, e ciò perchè nel 1248 circa, per le discordie tra guelfi e ghibellini le tre potenti famiglie bolognesi Bentivoglio, Malvezzi e Pepoli si rifugiarono nel territorio di Camerino. Il primo che lasciasse il cognome Bentivoglio per quello più breve di Voglia fu un Francesco nel 1372 che si stabilì definitivamente a Camerino e fu uomo di gran conto.
