Su questa famiglia così si esprime il Crollalanza nel suo "Dizionario Storico Blasonico": "Famiglia patrizia Ravennate estintasi in principio del sec. XVIII, ma della quale un ramo si riprodusse in Castrocaro ove fiorisce tuttora (1886)". Infatti un Fiorino, residente a Castrocaro, nel 1898 avanzò una domanda di riconoscimento del titolo di Patrizio di Ravenna alla R. Commissione Araldica delle Romagne, domanda che non ebbe alcun seguito perché l'interessato successivamente non produsse la richiesta prova genealogica. La famiglia Zaganelli diede uomini insigni: Paganello che nel 1185 capitanò le truppe Ravennati che sostenevano l'imperatore Federico e le condusse all'assedio di Faenza ove in uno scontro perdé la vita; Giovanni che seguì Pietro Traversari in Terrasanta nel 1187; Antonio, celebre giureconsulto, che ebbe dal Granduca di Toscana la carica di uditore della Rota di Siena, poi di Fiscale, indi di uditore generale.
