Famiglia feudale catalana un cui ramo si trasferì in Sardegna nel 1323 con un Alberto che partecipò alla spedizione dell'Infante Alfonso. Suo fratello Raimondo prese parte alla guerra contro i Doria nel 1332 ebbe come ricompensa in feudo le signorie di Armungia, Ballao e Sisini. La famiglia partecipò a tutti i parlamenti a partire dal 1355. Negli anni successivi Raimondo estese i suoi possedimenti e così fecero i suoi discendenti, finchè nel 1493 un Gherardo finì per acquistare tutta l'incontrada del Guerrei. Nel secolo XV inoltre gli Zatrillas riuscirono ad entrare in possesso di un altro grande feudo, nel 1421 infatti acquistarono dai Montanans il Montiferro; nel 1450 Raimondo, fratello di Gherardo, acquistò dai Marini Sietefuentes; nel 1455 dagli stessi Flussio e nel 1457 di Ferret il salto di Campo Bous. I figli di Gherardo formarono due diversi rami della famiglia: a) Angelo ebbe in eredità dallo zio Raimondo il Montiferro ed i feudi vicini e prese a risiedere ad Alghero, dove i suoi discendenti assunsero grande prestigio. Egli estese i suoi possessi acquistando dai Talavera nel 1480 la signoria di Pitinuri e nel 1505 il salto di Muro Congiato; ebbe infine nel 1518 il riconoscimento della nobiltà. Nel 1538 suo figlio Raimondo vendette ai Simò il salto di Campo Bous; nel 1594 Angelo, figlio di Raimondo, ebbe il titolo di conte di Cuglieri, sul feudo di Montiferro e suo figlio Giovanni Battista ebbe il titolo di marchese di Sietefuentes. La discendenza legittima di Giovanni Battista si estinse con sua figlia Francesca che sposò il marchese di Laconi; dopo il suo assassinio ella fu coinvolta nell'affare Camarassa, sposò Silvestro Aumerich e, costretta a fuggire in esilio, ebbe tutti i feudi confiscati. Giovanni Battista comunque lasciò dei figli naturali a Santulussurgiu; la discendenza di uno di questi, un Gerolamo, si estinse nel secolo XVIII. b) Da Raimondo, l'altro dei figli di Gherardo, discese il ramo dei signori del Gerrei, ramo che risiedette a Cagliari. Un suo pronipote, Gherardo, sposò una Dedoni e nel 1592 all'estinzione di quella famiglia acquistò anche il feudo di Gesturi; questo feudo però rimase per poco tempo ...
