La famiglia è originaria da Viterbo e ad essa si attribuisce per capostipite un Francesco, di Andrea, di Giacomo "alias Zelo" che viveva nel 1424. Giacomo, di Francesco, fu priore di Viterbo nel 1489 ed ebbe due figli che dettero origine a due rami. Il primo si estinse alla fine del XVI secolo, mentre il secondo con Pier Felice fu reintegrato nella nobiltà viterbese nel 1749 e si divise nelle famiglie: Pazzaglia e Jacobuzzi. La prima terminò in Giuseppina, di Giulio verso al metà del XIX secolo. La famiglia Jacobuzzi figura genericamente iscritta nell'Elenco Ufficiale Nobiliare Italiano del 1922 col titolo di nobile di Viterbo (mf.). Fu costume delle più antiche famiglie, le quali dopo la caduta del Romano Imperio, in quella inondatione de' Barbari, havendo i loro cognomi, sicome gli studi, e altre cose belle smarrito e restati solo con semplici nomi, trarre di nuovo i loro cognomi, e il loro casato da' nomi proprii paterni, e de' maggiori. ...
