Casa solar noble en el lugar de Ciganda, cuyo nombre tomó, del partido de Pamplona. Una de sus ramas radicó en la villa de Labayen, del mismo partido, y de ella procedió el Caballero de Santiago Diego Ciganda y Arteaga, ingresado el 12 de Enero de 1643. Juan Martín de Artiz Berema Garriz y Ciganda, natural de Gazolaz y vecino de Méijco, fué reconocido como noble en 1763, por la Real Audiencia de Pamplona. La misma distinción obtuvo en 1793 María Lorenza de Ciganda, vecina de Sarasate, y sus hijos Miguel, Antonio y Jerónimo de Larumbe y Ciganda. Son sus armas: Un cuartel, y en él dos lobos andantes, el uno sobre el otro, encontrados, y en su orla doce calderas. El estudio del escudo heráldico familiar nos "habla" de quienes formaron el origen de la familia Z., pues esa era su función, la de manifestar a los demás sus elementos diferenciales, pues la inclusión del elemento lobo indica la participación de esta familia en un hecho que se podría traducir como la victoria sobre el mal y como el de protector de pastores.
