Giuseppe, di Luigi Z., arricchiva la propria casa dando un potente impulso alla agricoltura e acquistava meriti tali in opere pubbliche che il 26 agosto 1836 veniva aggregato, insieme ai suoi discendenti, alla nobiltà bolognese. Da Annunziata Pallotti ebbe vari figli, fra i quali Luigi e Gaetano. Quest'ultimo si acquistò speciali benemerenze verso la Santa Sede, largheggiando di aiuti, di consigli e di denaro col Pontefice Pio IX nel tempo che questi era rifugiato a Gaeta, ed il medesimo Pontefice, con Breve 25 maggio 1850, concesse il titolo di conte a lui, a suo fratello Luigi ed ai nipoti primogeniti degli altri defunti fratelli e loro posteri rispettivi in linea primogeniale. Dei diversi rami investiti del titolo comitale oggi ne è superstite uno solo che discende dal ricordato Luigi, n. nel 1796, e da Anna Solimei, ultima di sua casa, dai quali nel 1825 nacque Mauro, che aggiunse al proprio il cognome materno. Questi morì giovanissimo all'età di ventinove anni, lasciando un unico figlio avuto dalla marchesa Paolina Pepoli, Giuseppe (1854-1902), che sposò la vivente nobile Carmelita Cagnola. ...
