Araldica della famiglia: Von Wyl
Ancient and noble Swiss family, originally from Germany, of clear and ancestral virtue, that has worldwide spread, over the centuries. The clear nobility of the family, known as Wyl or Von Wyl, is confirmed by its presence in the valuable work "Armorial Général" of the Dutch heraldist and genealogist JB Rietstap (12 May 1828–24 December 1891), a monumental work that contains the blazons of the coats of arms of more than 130,000 European families. public service, in the liberal professions and in the military service. Among these, without undervalue the omitted, we would like to mention: Hans, landowner in Baden-Württemberg, flourishing in 1521; Johann, German landowner, flourishing in 1532; Karl, jurist, flourishing in Zurich, in 1608; Friedrich, jurist, flourishing in Zurich in 1636; Georg, militiaman by profession, flourishing in 1664; Hans Gerard, jurist, flourishing in Swiss, in 1604; Franz, landowner, flourishing in 1617; Georg, Lutheran pastor, flourishing in 1626; Friedrich Hans, jurist, flourishing in Zurich, in 1631; Felip, militiaman, under the banners of Charles VI; Karl, jurist, flourishing in 1712. From the analysis of colours and symbols of the coat of arms we can have more information about the family virtues. The tincture or ("gold") refers to the most noble metal and it is symbol of generosity and elevation of the mind; the pale is considered as one of the honourable ordinaries and may occupy one third of the width of the shield; the tincture gules ("red") is symbol of strength and power but also fervent love for God; the star is used in heraldry to symbolize safe driving or aspiration to higher things. Family names so old, without any doubt, honour not only the families but also the cities that welcomed them; seems to be, in fact, very worthy living members of this family which, with much decorum, carry this noble surname, which has had several illustrious persons.
