Famiglia originaria di Cascina, un ramo della quale assunse il cognome da un Adorno vissuto nel XV secolo. Il cognome Braccesi fu aggiunto nel 1771 per testamento di Francesco Aurelio Braccesi, ultimo di questa famiglia. Giovanni da Cascina, padre del detto Adorno, fu podestà dell'isola del Giglio nel 1385, e rivestì la carica di Anziano in Pisa nel 1392 e 1402. Furono ascritti al Patriziato pisano (mf.) con rescritto 26 febbraio 1819. La bibliografia di questa famiglia viene menzionata dal Marchese Vittorio Spreti, nella sua Enciclopedia Storico-Nobiliare Italiana stampato in Milano nel 1936. Raccogliendo manoscritti di contenuto araldico e nobiliare-genealogico, tra le biblioteche ed in moltissimi archivi pubblici e privati. Le testimonianze e i documenti raccolti per la formazione dell'opera in questione sono state trasmesse dalla famiglia stessa. Adorni Braccesi di Pisa; la figura nella parte alta del 2° punto potrebbe identificarsi come un capo d'Angiò cucito sul campo d'azzurro, anche se in alcuni esemplari varia il numero dei gigli e dei pendenti del lambello. Lo scaccato si riferisce all'arma della famiglia Adorni di Genova (d'oro, alla banda scaccata di tre file d'azzurro e d'argento).
