Nobility crown AguilóLéese en crónicas antiguas que recogen algunos autorizados tratadistas, que este linaje viene de los valerosos Eguileos, patricios romanos, de cuya estirpe fue el mártir San Aguileo. En Valencia se halla la sepultura del famoso capitán Aguilio o Aguileo, muerto cerca de Sagunto, y hay una piedra en su tumba que dice: "Lucio Racio puso esta piedra a la buena memoria de su grande amigo Marco Aguilio, que murió de treinta y seis años". De esta piedra hacen mención varios autores, y dicen que el nombre de Aguilio vino a para r, por corrupción, en el de Aguileo y luego en A. o Aguilón. En tiempos de los godos, fue obispo de Barcelona Raimundo de Aguilón, en el año de 663, y duró su pontificado once años. Este dato corrobora la gran antigüedad del apellido y parece desmentir la versión que acogen otros tratadistas de que el linaje es originario de Alemania y de que el fundador de él en España fue un príncipe rico y poderoso,oriundo de dicha nación, llamado Roberto de A., a quien el conde de Barcelona dio en feudo, en 1129, la ciudad y el campo de Tarragona. Ahora bien; fuese ese caballero oriundo de Alemania o descendiente de la estirpe Aguilón, que procedía de los patricios romanos, el caso es que a tal príncipe se tiene como primero del linaje que dio motivo a la primera descendencia de padres a hijos de que se tiene noticia en este apellido. ...
