Procede del palacio de Aguirre, en la villa de Gaviria, del partido judicial de Azpéitia (Guipúzcoa), como lo afirman Baltasar de Echave, Jerónimo de Villa y otros autores, y creó las siguientes casas solares: Una en la villa de Segura, otra en la de Mutiola, del citado partido, pero eximida esta última de la jurisdicción de Segura y puesta a ser dependiente de la de Gaviria, y otra en la villa de Amézqueta, del partido judicial de Tolosa. A la casa solar de la villa de Segura, se la suele llamar de A. La de Amézqueta se llamó A, por estar sita en la parte llana y abierta, y a la de Mutiloa se la denominó también A. o Echenagusia, que quiere decir casa mayor. Es familia ésta muy antigua y numerosa, cuyos miembros ocuparon puestos distinguidos en Guipúzcoa, exhibiendo sus armas esculpidas, pintadas y grabadas en casas, cuadros y muebles. Pedro de A. fué Síndico de Ormáiztegui, villa del citado partido judicial de Azpéitia, y padre de Juan de A., Capitán de Caballos y también Regidor de Ormáiztegui en 1639, Alcalde en 1680 y Síndico en 1689. Su hijo Sebastián de A. fué asimismo Alcalde de Ormáiztegui en 1721 y 1724, y procreó a Ignacio de Aguirrezabala, varias veces Procurador de Juntas y Alcalde de Tolosa. Dejó por hijo y sucesor a Javier de Aguirrezabala, Regidor de Tolosa en 1777 y Alcalde de las villas de Mutiloa, Zaldivia, Ormáiztegui y Orio. Son sus armas: De plata, con una carrasca frondosa de sinople, al pie de cuyo tronco hay una loba de sable, para da, dando de mamar a dos lobeznos. El estudio del escudo heráldico familiar nos "habla" de quienes formaron el origen de la familia A., pues esa era su función, la de manifestar a los demás sus elementos diferenciales, pues la inclusión del elemento mar , que es la figura perteneciente a familias ligadas con el mar o con los negocios marítimos, pertenecía a personajes de gran poder económico.
