Originaria di Lucca, trapiantata in Firenze, da dove si diramò in Bologna e in Venezia. Nel 1310 Simone fece parte della congiura di Bajamonte Tiepolo, e Francesco avendo tentato di farsi signore di Venezia per vendicarsi di essere stata esclusa la sua famiglia dal Maggiore Consiglio fu impiccato nel 1415. Un Andrea Baldovino insieme ad Angelo Drusiano, avevano portato da Costantinopoli a Venezia i corpi dei SS. Simone profeta ed Ermolao. La famiglia dei Baldovini fece edificare in Venezia la chiesa dei SS. Simone e Giuda, ed il monastero di S. Croce insieme coi Magistrelli. Altro ramo. Non si hanno memorie molte antiche di questa famiglia. Il 25 ottobre 1500 fu ricevuto nella Confraternita di S.
