La branche dite d'Apinac, s'éteignit au XIV siècle dans une branche cadette des de Saint-Priest qui en perpétua le nom et les armes et prit même à la fin le nom d'Espinac ou de Pinac (corruption d'Apinac). On trouve en Velay: Grégoire, prêtre de l’église du Puy, l’un des exécuteurs testamentaires de Guillaume de Saint-Paul, chanoine de St-Georges du Puy le 2 septembre 1277; Pierre chanoine de Notre Dame du Puy (1293). Guillaume chanoine fordoyen et sacristain du même chapître, fut assassiné en 1324. Il avait pour mère Vierne de la Tour des Sauvages vivante en 1309. Pons chanoine de Notre-Dame du Puy testa le 18 février 1334, en faveur de Hugues, son neveu fils d'Armand et nomme ses frère Guichard et Etienne, celui-ci chanoine de St-Vosy. Jean, chevalier, est dit seigneur d'Apinac en 1343. Hugues marié à Isabelle d'Espaly et son frère, noble Guillaume seigneur de la Tour des Sauvages près Aurec, donné comme père de noble Antoine dans un acte du 27 mars 1478. ...
