Por referencias de historiadores de la época y otras averiguadas por Araldis en los archivos registrales de ciudades y otros privados, podríamos afirmar, pero no asegurar, que este escudo u otro muy similar a él, apareció inicialmente desde el siglo XI al XIV, particularmente en la corte del rey Teobaldo de Champagne, hijo de Blanca de Navarra y sobrino de Sancho el Fuerte, formando parte del servicio personal y guardia privada desde 1234 a 1240. Las referencias de esta familia parecen precisarse con más frecuencia desde el siglo XV al XIX en especial los hechos de el gobierno del virreynato del Perú, siendo asesor y colaborador de Don Gaspar de Zúñiga, quinto conde de Monterrey.
