La chiara nobiltà del casato trae origine dal barone Antonio Bertoletti, già generale del Regno Italico di Eugenio Beauharnais e luogotenente feldmaresciallo di campo. Egli nacque a Milano, il 28 ag. 1775 e, giovanissimo, si arruolò nella Legione lombarda.
