Bourgeoisie de Langeac, anoblie par une charge de secrétaire du roi, maison et couronne de France (1740). Filiation: Vidal, consul de cette ville (1699). Guillaume, docteur en médecine, obtint le 16 août 1712, des lettres patentes le nommant à l'office de greffier en chef de la prévôté des gabelles à Langeac. Jean son fils, lui succéda dans cette charge en 1725. Gilbert, écuyer, conseiller-secrétaire du roi seigneur de Montchauvel, le Chambon, etc., habitait Langeac en 1740. Antoine du Chambon, chevalier de divers ordres, lieutenant-colonel en retraite (1801), en récompense de ses beaux services militaires, fut nommé trésorier de la Couronne, puis contrôleur de la liste civile. Jerôme Bonaparte le créa le 30 nov. 1811 baron de Retterode, titre confirmè par décret impérial du 23 avr. 1812 et par lettres de Louis XVIII du 16 déc. 1814. Nobles alliances. Branche de la Bretagne: Hugues, écuyer, vivait en 1307; Constantin s'établit en Bretagne où il épousa vers 1570 Suzanne de Plumaugat. ...
