Antica famiglia, già nobile prima del 1626, anno in cui fu aggregata al nobile Consiglio di Padova, detta Dottori o Dottor, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. Venne insignita del titolo comitale, con decreto 19 Mar. 1676 del Senato Veneto, conferito ai discendenti di Giulio Bottori, in benemerenza dei servigi da lui prestati nella carriera militare. Ottenne la conferma della nobiltà con sovrana risoluzione 21 Mar. 1819, e quella del titolo comitale nel 1829.
