Nobility crown BouillardHaute chevalerie des confins de l'Auvergne et du Forez, qui pourrait être sortie de la même souche que les Damas et les l'Hermite de la Faye. Elle est relatée depuis Pierre (1147) et remonte sa filiation suivie à autre Pierre chevalier, seigneur du Chariol (1328). Maintenue dans sa noblesse le 30 nov. 1666. Guillaume épousa vers 1410 Béatrix de Montravel, seconde fille de Guillaume l'Hermite de la Faye et obtint de ce chef en partage, le 10 mars 1417, les seigneuries de la Faye, du Mezenc et des Estables. Grand nombre d'illustrations parmi lesquelles nous citerons: un chevalier croisé (1250); deux chevaliers du St-Esprit; neuf chanoines-comtes de Brioude (1582-1713); un évêque de Pamiers, aumônier de la reine Marie-Antoinette, plus tard évêque de Poitiers (1819); deux chanoines-comtes de Lyon (1381-1722); des chevaliers de l'ordre du roi et commandeurs de Malte; des officiers généraux dont: François-Claude-Amour marquis de Bouillé, né au château du Cluzel (Haute-Loire), (petit-fils d'Antoine-Guillaume du Chariol seigneur d'Alleret, de St-Géron, et de Madeleine Motier de La Fayette), maréchal de camp (1778), lieutenant-général (1782) et chevalier de l'ordre du St-Esprit, lequel tenta de sauver Louis XVI à Varennes; un autre maréchal de camp, puis major général du quartier corps (1812), promu par Louis XVIII au grade de lieutenant-général le 31 déc. 1814; un chef d'escadre; un gouverneur de la Martinique, pair de france (5 nov. 1827); des députés et sénateurs, etc. Illustres alliances. ...
