Nobility crown BrardGrande race du Languedoc sortie des Cévennes. Filiation depuis Arnauld, chevalier, seigneur de Montalet, etc., vivant en 1180. L'un de ses descendants fut désigné comme chef de l'ambassade envoyée en 1304, par Philippe le Bel, à Benoît XI lors de son élévation au pontificat. Guillaume, chevalier, auquel remontent les preuves de cette maison maintenue le 11 janvier 1669, est cité dans un hommage de 1312. Possessionnée en Velay par alliance avec les Fillères du Charrouil (1647), les Denis d'Allemance et les de Veyrac de Lardeyrol (1849). Nombreuses branches et illustrations. Un premier consul du Puy (1647); un lieutenant des vaisseaux du roi (1768); des officiers distingués de terre et de mer. Très belles alliances. Armes de cette famille: d'azur, au demi vol d'argent. Devises: Donec dent sidera sedem- Suaviter et Fortiter. Autre famille originaire de Bretagne: Hervé, croisé en 1248 (Chartes latines de 1191 à 1249 relatives aux croisés, provenant du cabinet Courtois); Thibaut, épouse vers 1409 Jeanne Hélory, dame de Kermartin; Alain, épouse vers 1476 Marguerite de Rochefort; Alain, fils de précédents, sénéchal de Lamballe en 1498, épouse Marguerite du Boistarouge; Jean, époux en 1500 de Raoulette Cadoré, dame de la fauvelière; Pierre, seigneur de la Foucaudière, commandait sous Bayard une compagnie d'aventuriers dans les guerres du Piémont et posséda de 1521 à 1529 le comté de Déciane, où il frappa des monnaies d'or et d'argent à son effigie et à ses armes, et qu'il revendit à Charles III, duc de Savoie, moyennant 4000 écus d'or au soleil. ...
