Cette nom (en latin:Blavi) est l'un des plus anciens de la chevalerie gévaudanaise. En 1198, Raymond et Pierre-Bertrand furent témoins d'une donation faite à l'abbaye de Franquevaux par Guigne Meschin, seigneur du Tournel. Cette famille était, de toute ancienneté, possessionnée à la Garde-Guérin où elle tenait plusieurs paréries. On peut remarquer, à cette occasion, la similitude existant entre les blasons des anciennes familles dominantes à la Garde-Guérin, principalement les la Garde, les d'Altier, les Blau, ainsi que l'extrême simplicité de ces blasons. Aldebert, chevalier, et Françoise, sa femme firent hommage, en 1228, à l'evêque de Mende, pour leurs possessions à la Garde. Leur fils, Guillaume, ainsi qu'Agnès, sa femme, firent le même hommage en 1262. En 1261, Aldebert, chevalier, hommagea à Odilon Guérin, seigneur du Tournel, pour des terres sises au mandement de Chapieu. On trouve encore, en 1291, Aldebert, père d'un fils surnommé < Blavinus >. Pierre, né à la Garde-Guérin, docteur en droit canon et civil, s'attacha à l'antipape Benoît XIII (Pierre de Lune), qui le créa, en 1396, cardinal-diacre au titre de Saint-Ange. Le concile de Pisa ratifia sa nomination. Il mourut, à Avignon, en 1409. Sur son tombeau, on lisait l'épitaphe suivante: < Prudens et castus humilis, pius atque benignus, Sobrius et largus et requietus erat >. ...
