Antica ed assai nobile famiglia sarda, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. Secondo quanto ci viene tramandato, essa è però originaria della Spagna, ove era conosciuta come Càsula. Molti suoi esponenti inoltre hanno provato la propria nobiltà nei militari ordini di Santiago, Calatrava, Alcántara, Montesa, Carlos III e San Giovanni di Gerusalemme. In Sardegna giunse nel corso del XIV secolo ed infatti nell’Atto di pace del 1388 tra la Corona d’Aragona e il Regno d’Arborea è attestato proprio questo cognome. Nella prima metà del XVI secolo i maggiori insediamenti di questa famiglia si ebbero nel territorio di Sassari. Successivamente però il nucleo principale si spostò in Nurri.
