Bandita nel secolo XIV, ritornò in città sulla fine del secolo XV ed ebbe con Ferrante e Bernardino cittadinanza lucchese. Ultimi di questo ramo furono i due fratelli Domenico Agostino e Nicolao di Arcangelo; il primo intelligente d'arte, scrittore e storico della musica in Lucca; il secondo medico e bibliofilo, benemerito degli studi per avere donato con suo testamento del 20 agosto 1884 al R.
