Mosén Jaime Febrer menciona en sus Trovas al caballero Arnaldo C. (apellido que se transformó en Cervato, Cervatón y Cervatos), que "vino de la Provenza" a servir al rey don Jaime I de Aragón en la conquista de Valencia. Otros autores confirman estas noticias y añaden que el mencionado Arnaldo C. obtuvo repartimiento de tierras en Valencia en 1238, y que el repetido monarca aragonés le dio la villa de Picasent, donde dejó sucesores, que pasaron a establecerse en la ciudad de Valencia, en la que se apellidaron Cervato (sin acento en la o), Cervatos, por pluralización del apellido, y Cervatón. Gaspar Escolano agrega que los de este linaje, a los que llama Cervato, gobernaron la ciudad de Valencia durante más de trescientos años, desempeñando los oficios de justicias, jurados y almotacenes. De la casa valenciana procedió Micer Melchor C., señor del lugar de Antella, en el partido judicial de Alberique. También fue barón de Antella y casó con doña Gracia Fabra (que algunos autores llaman Fabiá García), en la que procreó a doña Ana C. o Cervatón, baronesa de Antella y dama de la reina doña Germana de Foix, segunda mujer del Rey Católico. Fue muy celebrada por su gran erudición y talento y contrajo matrimonio con Garci López Portocarrero, señor de las villas de Alcalá (Sevilla) y Chucena (Huelva), y del citado lugar de Antella. ...
