La Chomette, près Paulhaguet a successivament appartenu aux grandes maisons de Langeac, de la Rochefoucauld et de Lespinasse. Les Faugières étaient seigneurs de la Chomette près St-Beauzire de 1490 à 1600, et l'un d'eux pourrait avoir été admis au chapitre de Brioude. A une autre famille appartenaient: Claudine de Geneste de la Chaumette, mariée vers 1500, à Sébastien de Chavagnac d'Aubepeyre; Anne de Geneste de la Chaumette alliée le 10 février 1599, à Jacques de Fauon de Villaret et Antoinette de Geneste dame de la Chaumette, mariée le 11 février 1621 à François du Saunier de Bansat, qui devint seigneur de la Chaumette. Une seigneurie de la Chaumette, près St-Flour était possessionnée en 1578 par les de Brisson. Jacques et Claude, convoqués au ban de la province d'Auvergne en 1543, se rattachaient à l'une des maisons précédentes. ...
