Cette famille remonte à Antoine marié au XVème siècle à Anne de Tende. Il avait un frère nommé Isnard qui fut prévot d'Aups en 1501. C'est lui qui fit changer le nom de prieuré, en celui de prévoté, par une bulle de Rome en vertu de laquelle il possédait la prévoté d'Aups, un canonicat à Barjols, le prieuré de Revert et quelques autres bénéfices. Elle se divisa en deux branches: l'aînée se fixa à Marseille, la cadette dans les Basses-Alpes. Parmi les représentants de la branche aînée on trouve: 1° Joseph, né le 5 janvier 1800 à Aups, troisième fils de Joseph-Pierre Anne, chef de nom et d'armes. Il a épousé à Marseille le 26 décembre 1830, demoiselle Antoinette-Sophie-Elisabeth de Roubaud, dont: A. Emile-Joseph-Alexandre, né le 17 mars 1841; B. Gustave -Léon, né le 29 août 1842; C. Hilarion-François, né le 15 décembre 1843; D. Albert-Marie-Joseph, né le 28 novembre 1854; E. Marie-Philomène-Augustine-Anaïs, née le 20 novembre 1837. F. Caroline-Léonie, née le 23 octobre 1846; G. Octavie-Anne-Emilie, née le 2 juin 1849. La branche cadette à pour tige Joseph-Alexandre Clappier, né à Digne le 3 juillet 1825, avocat attaché au ministère de la justice de 1849 à 1854, président du tribunal de première instance de Digne et membre du conseil général des Basses-Alpes, marié le 30 avril 1855, à demoiselle Julie-Louise Demoulin. La distinction familiale représentée ici sous forme de blason, survit à travers les siècles grâce à des précieux témoignages qui nous ont permis de rapporter les exploits et les gestes de cette noble famille.
