Rastro heráldico de la familia: Cossavella
Ancient and noble family from Piedmont, originally from the Cuneo area, that has spread, during the centuries, in different Italian regions and worldwide. According to what has been handed down, the family could be of Roman origin, belonging to the lineage of Cossa, from which have branched different families known as Cosso, Cosseri and Cossavella. Anyway, this family, in all ages, always stands out, thanks to the prominent figures, which gave birth, in the public service, in the liberal and ecclesiastical professions and in the military service. Among these, without undervalue the omitted, we would like to mention: Pietro, landowner in Cuneo, flourishing in 1503; Angelo, doctor in the one and the other law, flourishing in Cuneo, in 1542; P. Luigi, of the Order of the Minor Reformed, flourishing in 1567; Federico, soldier by profession, flourishing in 1603; Giacomo, lawyer, living in Cuneo, in 1619; Leonardo, Royal Notary, living in... ContinuaráTurin, in 1644; Pietro famous jurist and counsellor in Cuneo, living in 1674; Leone, Royal Notary, flourishing in Turin in 1682; Fr. Antonio, of the Order of Preachers, flourishing in 1723; Alessandro, counsellor of the University of Piedmont, living in 1782; Filippo, Secretary of the Sub-Prefecture of Cuneo; Vittorio, doctor in the one and the other law, flourishing in 1802; prof. Giovanni (1834-1919), scholar and historian of science, founder and director of the Meteorological Observatory of Cuneo, created Knight of the SS. Maurice and Lazarus on October 20, 1867. Family names so old, without any doubt, honour not only families but also the city that welcomed them; seems to be, in fact, very worthy the living members of this family which, with much decorum, carry this noble surname, which has had several illustrious persons.
