Tuvo por progenitor este linaje a un caballero llamado don Guevara, tío del Infante don Ramiro de Navarra, que por haberse hallado en la primera Cruzada de Tierra Santa, se llamó Pedro C., apellido que convirtieron en Navarra en Cruzat. Esto dice Avalos de la Piscina, autor poco escrupuloso. Francisco de Eguía y Beaumont, afirma que los Cruzates de Pamplona descienden de los Cruzates de Bretaña, y que por eso usan las mismas armas. Esta parece la versión más verídica, pues desde el siglo XIII hay memorias documentadas de este linaje que radicó en el Burgo de San Cernin o San Fermín, en Pamplona, y levantó casa solar en esta ciudad, frente a la parroquia de San Nicolás. Poseyó enterramiento en la iglesia de San Fermín. Una rama entroncó con los Redin. Otras se establecieron en Tafalla, Veartegui y Sarriguren. Otras pasaron a Chile.
