Heraldische Spur die Familie: Cumbis Ancient and noble Spanish family, of clear and ancestral virtue, that has worldwide spread, over te centuries. The clear nobility of the House is confirmed by the presence of its blazon in the valuable works: "Repertorio de blasones de la comunidad hispánica - letras A-B-C-CH Vicente De Cadenas y Vicent Instituto Salazar y Castro" and "El solar catalan, valenciano y balear - Tomo segundo A. y A. Garcia Carraffa Libreria internacional". The first references to the family dates back to the events related to the re-population of Tarragona, which began with Ramon Berenguer III and ended with St. Olegario and Knight Robert Bordet at the beginning of the twelfth century. Arnaldo was canon of Barcellona and them archbishop of Tarragona (October 7, 1334 - September 9, 1346). During the 14th century, the family moved to Italy with a Fabrizio de Cumbis and, under the Aragonese, it was decorated with eminent... Fortsetzung folgtoffices. A Raimondo obtained the Lordship of the Bonalbergo, feud in Nicosia, in the year 1392, with the baronial title. Another Raimondo was then secretary of Duke Martino and protonotary of the kingdom of Sicily. The family is divided into three main branches: in Malta, in Reggio-Calabria and in St. Agatha of the Goths, whence it came the one established in Milazzo and elevated to the nobility of Messina on 31 August 1813. From this branch, flourished: Francesco, poet and speaker of the seventeenth century; Gioacchino, judge of appellations in Messina; Francesco, judge of the Great Court in 1729. From the analysis of colours and symbols of the coat of arms we can have more information about the family virtues. The tincture gules ("red") is symbol of strength and power but also fervent love for God; the castle has often been granted to one who has faithfully held a castle for his sovereign, or who has captured on by force or stratagem. The castle signifies spiritual power and vigilance as well as home and safety; the tincture or ("gold") refers to the most noble metal and it is symbol of generosity and elevation of the mind; in heraldry, sable is the tincture black and it denotes the qualities of knowledge, piety, serenity and work. Family names so old, without any doubt, honour not only families but also the cities that welcomed them; seems to be, in fact, very worthy the living members of this family which, with much decorum, carry this noble surname, which has had several illustrious members.
