Nobility crown DCette famille qui a joué un rôle prépondérant dans la carrière des armes, a produit une foule de personnages illustres; on signale dans le nombre: Hervé, témoin d'une donation du duc Alain III au mont Saint-Michel en 1040; Alain, prend les armes en 1205 pour venger la mort du duc Arthur; Georges, porte trois molettes sur un sceau de 1321; Jean, combat glorieusement à la bataille de Nicopolis en Turquie, en 1396; Pierre, frère du précédent, grand sénéchal de Provence, attaché à la celle des royaumes de Naples et de Sicile, décédé en 1416; Amaury, évêque de Nantes en 1462, décédé en 1477; Jean, à la bataille de Pavie en 1524; Louis, évêque de Nantes et abbé du Relecq, décédé en 1542; François, frère du précédent, abbé de Beauport en 1540; autre François, tué à la bataille de Moncontour en 1579; Charles, abbé de Coëtmalouen en 1636. La seigneurie a été érigée en marquisat l'an 1609 en faveur de Charles de Cossé-Brissac, second fils de Charles, maréchal de France, marié en 1573 à Judith. Ce marquisat appartenait en 1637 à Julien Freslon, sieur de la Freslonniére, président à mortier et son arrière-petite-fille l'apporta en mariage, l'an 1710, aux Talhouët de Bonamour.
