Famille consulaire du Puy, vivant noblement dès 1400 et sortie de la même souche que les Chabrier. Noble Hugon Chabrier, dit Orvy, marié à JeanneVialette vivait en 1363-1412. Noble Guillaume laissa de Louise Baconier: Gonet Chabrier alias Orvy, bourgeois du Puy qui testa le 25 avril 1482. Noble Symphorien Orvy, son frère et héritier, allié à Isabeau Farnier, est dit Bourgeois du Puy en 1520. Antoine et Marguerit Brun de Lanthenas sa femme, acquirent le 30 janvier 1534 la baronnie d'Agrain, de Gautheir Farnier, marchand de Valence. Ils laissèrent Gabriel marié le 10 février 1552 à Louise de Thorenc, dont il est question plus loin. Claude, fils d'autre Claude, bourgeois du Puy, testa le 27 avril 1555. Madeleine d'Avignon sa veuve, qui avait hérité de son fils Durand Orvy, seigneur de la Tour-Daniel, acquit le 10 septembre 1579, moyennant "cent escus d'or au soleil", de Louis-Armand XVII vicomte de Polignac, tout ses droits censitaires et seigneuriaux sur le village de l'Olme paroisse de Coubon. Claude seigneur de Chabaron et noble Gabriel baron d'Agrain, 1° consul du Puy et greffier de la sénéchaussée, figurent l'un et l'autre parmi les habitants de cette ville qui prêtèrent serment à la Ligue, le 6 avril 1589. Louise de Thorenc, femme de Gabriel, est qualifié dans un acte de 1609, dame de Chambaron. Leur fils Hugues, allié à Charlotte du Villard, mourut sans posterité en 1607 et la baronnie d'Agrain passa à son beau-frère Georges Pradier époux de Catherine d'Orvy. Fleurien, cousin-germain de Hugues et fils de Claude et de Madeleine d'Avignon précités, capitaine général du Puy en 1586, seconda activement les royalistes pour surprendre cette ville, mais découvert par les Ligueurs, il fut par eux emprisonné et pendu le 23 octobre 1594. Louise Spert sa veuve, obtint le 14 juin 1596, un arrêt du conseil du roi, déclarant sa mémoire honorable à la posterité. jean d'Orcvy seigneur de la Tour-Daniel, deuxième consuldu Puy (1594), fut aussi retenu longtemps en prison par Les Ligueurs et ne dut sa liberté qu'à une contribution de mille écus.
