Nobility crown DAntica famiglia napoletana, di chiara e provata nobiltà, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. L'origine di tal cognominizzazione, al dir di illustri genealogisti, andrebbe ricercata non nell'omonimo toponimo barese, bensì nel nome, di matrice greca, "Andrea", il cui significato uomo forte, vigoroso, appartenuto, probabilmente, ad un, oggi ignoto, capostipite. Già nel 1187, la famiglia, risultava feudataria in Terlizzi e, nel 1282, in Conversano. In ogni modo, la famiglia, in data 20 ottobre 1520, venne dichiarata nobile, dall'imperatore Carlo V. Tal titolo, a Madrid, in data 6 novembre 1663, le fu confermato, insieme allo stemma gentilizio, con diploma di re Filippo IV, in persona di Paolo e dei suoi discendenti. La Commissione araldica, nel 1860, riconobbe, infatti, l'avita nobiltà del casato, il quale, inoltre, risulta iscritto nell'Elenco ufficiale nobiliare, col detto titolo trasmissibile di nobile, del quale ha ultimamente ottenuto speciale riconoscimento.
