Nobility crown DamilanoAntica famiglia piemontese, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. L'origine di tal cognominizzazione, al dir di illustri genealogisti, andrebbe ricercata in un soprannome, originatosi da una fusione tra la preposizione "da" ed il toponimo "Milano", probabilmente, ad indicare il luogo natio dei capostipiti. In ogni modo, tal casato, verosimilmente, venne fregiato del cavalierato in seguito alla virtuosa e coraggiosa partecipazione di un Raimondo Damilano, sotto i vessilli del "Conte Rosso", ovvero Amedeo VII, alla conquista, nel 1388, di uno sbocco al mare con Nizza, uno dei capisaldi del potere della Casa Savoia in Piemonte. Ma, d'altronde, tal casato, sempre, riuscì a distinguersi, grazie agli elevati personaggi, a cui diede i natali. Tra questi, ricordiamo: Claudio, consigliere in Vercelli, nel 1476; Paolo, ingegnere camerale in Milano, nel 1494; Flaviano, maestro di campo, arruolato nell'esercito di Carlo III di Savoia; Cav.
