L'anno 1372 Alessandro e Bartolomeo di Niccolò degli Albizzi rinunziarono alla Consorteria, cambiarono stemma e si chiamarono degli De Alessandri. Dall'assunzione del nuovo cognome, dettero 21 Priori ed 8 Gonfalonieri di giustizia alla Repubblica, e due senatori al Principato. Antonio, di Alessandro, fu nel 1428 eletto Podestà di Bologna. Alessandro di Ugo, Priore e due volte Gonfaloniere, fu ambasciatore a Milano e Governatore a Piombino. Nel 1439, in occasione della riunione della Chiesa greca con la latina, l'imperatore Giovanni Paleologo, lo nominò conte di palazzo; e nel 1451 l'imperatore Federico IV l'ornò solennemente di sua mano del cingolo cavalleresco. Bartolomeo, fratello del precedente, fu consigliere di Renato d'Angiò re di Napoli, e nel 1440 tesoriere del Regno di Sicilia.
