Cette famille paraît être un rameau sorti de la même souche que les de Besse de Bellefaye, possessionnés près Blesle et qui ont donné plusieurs chanoines-comtes de Brioude. Seigneurs de Cumignat, de Pressat, de Javaugues, de la Talliadis, en 1284-1286 et 1298 (Auvergne); seigneuries énoncées par alliance avec Alix de Digons héritière des dites terres. Ses armoiries sont identiques. Alix fonda un anniversaire dans l'église de La Chaise-Dieu l'an 1392. Éteinte vers 1390, dans la maison du Crozet. On la retrouve à différentes époques, en diverses localités surtout à Derrien. Il est certain cependant que jadis, dans la succession de faits historiques de petite ou grande envergure, la souche originaire ait pu donner lieu à de nombreuses branches fleuries dans diverses régions françaises. La distinction familiale représentée ici sous forme de blason, survit à travers les siècles grâce à des précieux témoignages qui nous ont permis de rapporter les exploits et les gestes de cette noble famille.
