Antichissima famiglia, detta Marcantonio o Di Marcantonio, di chiara ed avita virtù, fiorita in territorio abruzzese, i cui membri appartennero alla Nobiltà feudale e possedettero, nel circondario di L'Aquila, i feudi di Scopplitto e di S. Silvestro e più tardi, nel 1606, quelli di Joana e di Collangelo, con qualità Baronale. Successivamente, si stanziarono a Villa Latina (Frosinone), ove continuarono la loro discendenza. La genealogia documentata del ramo di Picinisco (Frosinone) fa capo a Giovanni, Comandante la Rocca di Picinisco, nato nel 1550 circa, sposato ad una Giovanna, che gli procreò il figlio Aquilano Ferrante, nato a Picinisco il 15.6.1582. Questi sposò Giacoma dalla quale ebbe i figli: Eleuterio, Giovanni e Leonardo, tutti nati a Picinisco.
