Assai antica ed illustre famiglia spagnola, oriunda da Olite, presso Pamplona, la quale godette di ereditaria nobiltà, sino al tempo di Isabella la Cattolica. L'origine di tal cognominizzazione, al dir di illustri genealogisti, andrebbe ricercata nell'omonima cittadina, sita nella provincia di Pamplona. In ogni modo, nella prima metà del secolo decimo nono, il casato passò a risiedere in Lucca, al seguito del duca Carlo Ludovico di Borbone, meritandosi proprio il favore della Corte Borbonica. Quest'ultima, infatti, fece iscrivere dalla Deputazione di Nobiltà, istituita nel 1826, Domenico Maria De Navasques, ciambellano e direttore della Segreteria interna di gabinetto, alla nobiltà ereditaria lucchese, in data 1° settembre 1828.
