Nobility crown De PlantadeNoblesse de robe du Bas-Languedoc. Filiation: Vital seigneur de Clérac, gouverneur de Pézenas, mort en 1552. Des magistrats; cinq conseillers à la cour des aides de Montpellier, l'un d'eux Etienne (1659), employé par Louis XIV dans un grand nombre de commissions des plus importantes; un maréchal de camp (1788); un compositeur de musique, chef de chant à l'Opera et maître de chapelle de Louis XVIII et de Charles X (1816). Une branche qui se serait fixée à Issoire dès le XVIIème siècle, a produit plusieurs notaires royaux de cette ville. Un de ses membres, Théophile Plantade, s'établit en Velay, le 27 décembre 1868, par alliance avec les de Morgues de St-Germain. A ce nom, on attribue un signe distinctif de noblesse représenté par le blason que l'on a reproduit ci-contre et qui confirme aussi à travers ses emblêmes, au point de vue historique et héraldique la certitude d'une valeur remarquable.
