Estos apellido son modalidades del linaje catalán "Catllar". Varias ramas de Catllar se apellidaron en Cataluña Descatllar, y tuvieron casa en la villa de Ripoll, provincia de Gerona. De esa casa fue Luis Descatllar, natural de Ripoll, que en su esposa, doña María Descatllar y Desbach, natural de Gerona, tuvo a Luis Descatllar, natural de Gerona, que casó con doña Elvira Sarriera, de igual naturaleza, naciendo de este enlace Juan Descatllar y Sarriera, natural de Barcelona y caballero de la Orden de Alcántara, en la que ingresó en 1661. El linaje pasó a Mallorca en tiempos antiguos y allí algunos de sus caballeros se apellidaron Dezcallar. Fue el fundador de la casa mallorquina Ponce Dezcallar, privado del rey don Pedro III de Aragón, a quien siguió en todas sus campañas, como igualmente a su hijo don Alonso III, al que acompañó en 1285 en la toma de dicha isla, y en 1286 en la de Menorca. Vuelto a Mallorca, adquirió ricas heredades y fundó en Palma el ilustre solar de su apellido, que aún se conserva, sin haber faltado nunca la sucesión masculina, ni haberse empañado su antigua distinción. ...
