La famiglia Di Stasi è assai antica e nobile, detta anche Masi o Dé Masi, originaria della Toscana, fu ascritta al patriziato fiorentino e diede due gonfalonieri e cinque priori alla Repubblica di Firenze. Stabilitasi in Ferrara, ebbe alcuni gonfalonieri e vari personaggi, che si distinsero nelle lettere e nelle scienze. Fu insignita del titolo comitale dal Duca di Parma Ranuccio Farnese verso la metà del sec. XVII. Cosimo, infatti, chiese ed ottenne dalla Camera Parmense la giurisdizione di alcune ville che furono erette in feudo.
