Antica famiglia lombarda che prese il nome della terra di Duera o Dovera nel lodigiano. Diede 29 decurioni dei quali ultimo fu Bono, dux militum nell'anno 1611. Questa famiglia ebbe giurisdizione sull'isola di Monticelli poi isola Dovarese che poi cedette ai Gonzaga nel 1411, conservandone tuttavia il dominio insieme ai Picenardi. Possedette molti beni e contrasse alleanza coi Gonzaga ed altre illustri famiglie. Numerosi sono i personaggi chiari nelle discipline civili, militari e religiose. Con diploma imperiale del 26 maggio 1830, riconfermato con Decreto Ministeriale del Governo italiano 10 giugno 1894, fu riconosciuto a questa famiglia il titolo nobile per mf. e lo stemma. L'antica nobiltà fu anche riconosciuta con Decreto dato a Vienna 11 aprile 1895 dall'I.R. Ministero Austriaco.
