Hubo distintos y antiguos solares de D., cuyas ramas difundieron el apellido por casi toda las regiones de España. En Mallorca aparece el apellido D. en el tiempo de su conquista. Guillermo D., soldado aventurero, citado por los tratadistas Febrer y Bover, sirvió en dicha conquista y pasó después a la de Valencia. "Estando en Bensa, dice Febrer, hizo una presa de moros de mucha consideración: y, haciendo gran destrozo, rindió a Villajoyosa, Orcheta, Relleu, Sella y Finestrat, hasta Benidorm. Francisco D., en el año de 1302, fue jurado de la ciudad y reino de Mallorca por el estamento de ciudadanos. Antonio D. también fue jurado en 1456 y 1465. Berenguer D., en 1463, capitaneó una nave suya en la armada de Francisco Burgues, que pasó a la recuperación de Menorca y del castillo de Amposta. El doctor Pablo D. fue vicario general del obispado de Mallorca antes del año 1614. Algunos de estos D., de Mallorca y Valencia, se apellidaron también "Durá". Otra familia distinta de D., originaria de Francia y que se apellidó Durand y D., indistintamente, pasó a establecerse en Valencia, donde ya había otros de este apellido originarios de Mallorca. Otra casa del apellido D., catalana, y con armas distintas de las que ostentaron las anteriores, radicó en la villa de Ripoll. ...
