Antiguo y noble linaje catalán, con casa muy antigua en el lugar de Banyoles, del partido judicial de Gerona, y otra, también de mucha antigüedad, en la ciudad de Barcelona. Esta tenía enterramiento propio en la iglesia de Santa Catalina y varios de sus caballeros ingresaron en la Orden de San Juan, en el Gran Priorato de Cataluña. Por real despacho de 2 de julio de 1796 se concedió el título de marqués de Monistrol de Noya a don Francisco D. y de Marí. Sucedió en el mismo, por real carta de 20 de febrero de 1856, doña Francisca D. y de Fiveller. El marquesado de Monistrol pertenece hoy a la casa de los condes de Sástago, grandes de España. Pasó el linaje D. a Mallorca, donde ya, en el siglo XV, vivía Juan D., doctor en ambos Derechos, que obtuvo del rey don Juan el perdón para los mahoneses, que se habían unido al alzamiento de los catalanes. A la rama de Mallorca pertenecieron también los siguientes: Pedro D., que en 23 de Mayo de 1513 obtuvo el privilegio de perpetuo caballero. Bartolomé D., que fué caballero de San Juan y Capitán de una de las galeras de su Orden. Alfonso D., que en 1589 era Tesorero de la Procuración general o Real Patrimonio de Mallorca. Alfonso D. y Despuig, que fué capitán a guerra de la villa de Perreras y uno de los caballeros mallorquines que en 1647 corrieron en el Borne de Palma el estafermo con que la Cofradía de San Jorge quiso celebrar la pacificación de los partidos de "Canamuns" y "Canasalls". ...
