Nobility crown EguiaNoble y antiquísimo linaje vascongado, extendido por Vizcaya: Álava, Guipúzcoa y Navarra, con casas solares ya conocidas en la Edad Media. Entre las casas de Eguía en Vizcaya, figuran: Una en la Merindad de Arratia y otra en Bilbao, con iguales armas; otra en la misma villa de Bilbao, con distinto escudo que las anteriores; otra en el Concejo de Yurre, del partido de Durango, y otra en la anteiglesia de Berriatúa, del partido de Marquina. Es de advertir que el Concejo de Yurre tiene un barrio que se llama Egunía, y otro del mismo nombre pertenece al Ayuntamiento de Ceberio, del partido judicial de Bilbao, siendo lo más probable que el linaje que nos ocupa motivara la denominación de ambos barrios. En Guipúzcoa hubo una casa muy de E., en Amézqueta, del partido judicial de Tolosa, y otra en tierra de Aya, del partido de San Sebastián. Esta última casa fué de las originarias y pobladoras de Guipúzcoa y de Cabo de Armería. Otra radicó en la villa de Azcóitia, del partido judicial de Azpéitia, y de ella dimanaron las casas que se establecieron después de Elgóibar, villa del partido judicial de Vergara, y en Santa Cruz de Campezo, del partido judicial de Laguardia (Álava). De esta última casa procedieron José Francisco y Félix de E., que obtuvieron Real provisión de Nobleza en la Chancillería de Valladolid el 18 de Enero de 1791. Otra casa alavesa de E. hubo en el Valle de Oquendo, del partido judicial de Amurrio. ...
