Nobility crown FaàFamiglia originaria di Fontanile, propagatasi, poi, in Casale Monferrato, Mantova e Alessandria. Ebbe un cavaliere di Malta, Ferdinando, nel 1580, epoca in cui la famiglia figura già in alto stato. Il capostipite conosciuto è Gian Matteo, da Fontanile, già morto nel 1539, padre di Ardizzino, senatore (1545-62) e capitano generale di giustizia a Casale (1562). Il di costui figlio Orazio acquistava il feudo di Bruno dagli Scarampi e ne era investito, con titolo signorile il 24 marzo 1588. Un decennio dopo, il 15 aprile 1598, il feudo veniva eretto in contea a favore del figlio di lui, Ortensio, pretore di Mantova e senatore, morto senza prole. Gli succedette il fratello Ardizzino (dec. 1617), governatore di Trino, e come il fratello, senatore.
