Ferrando ou Fernando, descendente de Ferrando, régulo da Maia e de sua mulher, Maria, que os discípulos do Apóstolo Santiago converteram à fé cristã, foi pai de Froila Ferrandes, Conde e prócere da Monarquia goda, casado com Tavira, viúva de Ardabastor, de quem tivera Ervígio, Rei dos Godos. Froila Ferrandes houve de sua mulher, entre outros filhos, a Sona Ferrandes, Conde e prócer, como seu pai, e alcaide de Lugo, onde vivia pelos anos de 653. Foi rico-homem dos Reis D. Rodrigo e D. Pelaio, esteve com seus irmãos no 15.° Concílio Toledano, celebrado no ano de 688, com seu irmão Sunifredo se achou em Covadonga e recebeu-se com uma filha de D. Pedro, Duque de Cantábria, de quem teve Ferrando Fernandes, alcaide de Lugo, alferes-mor do Rei D. Fruela I e marido de D. Maria de Ulhoa, filha de Fernão Sanches e de sua mulher, D. Nunilona de Gusmão, de cujo matrimónio nasceu, com muitos outros, Soeiro Fernandes. Este sucedeu na casa paterna por morte dos irmãos, com os quais e com outros parentes esteve na libertaçao das donzelas que os Mouros levavam a Olmem, filho do Rei de Córdova, em pagamento do tributo de Mauregato. Entre as donzelas libertadas se encotravam suas irmãs Memorana e Sancha. Soeiro Fernandes, que foi grande cavaleiro na Galiza e benfeitor do mosteiro de Sobrado, casou com D. Teresa ou Urraca, filha de D. Gomesindo, de quem houve D. Soeiro Soares e outros filhos. ...
